We invite experienced accounting professionals who are interested in supporting innovative ecological projects to apply for a senior staff accountant position with us. The anticipated salary for this exempt position is $74,000–$87,500. Actual compensation within the range will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and location of employment. This position can be based out of one of our California offices (Los Gatos, Fresno, Sacramento, Arcata), performed remotely during regular U.S. West Coast business hours, or a hybrid of remote and in-office work. Harvey & Associates is an ecological consulting firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with more than 80 people working out of our Los Gatos, Fresno, Sacramento, Arcata, and Hawaii offices and remotely. We have been cultivating excellence in our staff in pursuit of our mission to create ecologically sound solutions to our clients’ complex natural resource challenges for more than 50 years. Our core areas of expertise are wildlife ecology, plant ecology, aquatic ecology, restoration ecology, and landscape architecture. The business management group leads the company’s human resources, health and safety, finance and accounting, IT, marketing and communications, business operations, technical support, and GIS services.
What this job entails
This position reports to the company’s controller. As a member of the accounting team, you’ll set goals for and drive all tasks related to the billing cycle—beginning to end—including managing collection efforts. You’ll have direct access to and work with company leadership on a regular basis. While our billing process is on a routine monthly cycle, the nature of the work is anything but routine—our clients range from public sector agencies to private companies, to research institutions, all with different billing requirements.
Experience, competencies, and skills
The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of prior work experience with accounts receivable. They would enjoy a balance of predictable and unpredictable work, possess a strong eye for detail, be exceptionally organized, and have a proactive nature about completing work tasks and meeting deadlines.
