Landscape Designer

Landscape Designer

H. T. Harvey & Associates, an ecological consulting firm based in Northern California, is looking for collaborative and creative landscape designers to join the landscape architecture group in our San Francisco Bay Area office (Los Gatos, Santa Clara County).  This position is full time and can accommodate a hybrid schedule that allows for a combination of telework and in-office work. This is not a remote position, as some office work and project site visits are required.

About Us

The leaders in our landscape architecture group have unparalleled experience designing habitat restoration, open space, park, and ecology-driven projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. We are highly collaborative, fostering a strong culture of mentorship and support, learning from each other as well as from other experts in our firm’s restoration, wildlife, plant, and aquatic ecologist groups.

Our Work

The landscape architecture group’s work focuses on restoring native habitats and creating nature experiences in open space and business campus settings that are both engaging and educational. For example, we:

  • Lead a team in the planning and design of a 9-acre park on the San Francisco Bay shoreline. The future park will have new tidal marsh and transition zone habitats and educate the public on sea level rise and Bay ecology.
  • Integrate pollinator habitat and native landscapes into urban campus planning and design for large companies in the region.
  • Assist the City of San Jose’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services with planning, monitoring, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of mitigation projects.
  • Collaborate with our restoration ecologists and hydrologist project partners to design a 100+ acre riparian floodplain and California sycamore restoration site.

What You’ll Do

As a member of our landscape architecture group, you’ll have the opportunity to analyze site conditions, develop conceptual designs and construction documents, prepare client and public presentation materials, oversee construction, and participate in long-term monitoring. Our senior staff will mentor you and help you develop your skills as a landscape designer. You will also have the opportunity to work with other H. T. Harvey & Associates ecologists to deepen your knowledge of the habitats and species of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
